In the midst of the controversy surrounding its registration with the Nigeria's electoral umpire, the Kwara State branch of newly-formed opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) has said that they will send the ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) away from the State.
APC said it has come to rescue citizens of the State from the shackles of the ruling PDP.
“It is in this wise that I call on the good people of Kwara not to leave this task to us alone.
“You should support us actively with prayers, logistics, human and capital resources in our bid to salvage our State from the old jaw of PDP,” the opposition party said.
Addressing a press conference, the State Chairmen of the three major political parties which merged to form APC: Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) - Suleiman Buhari, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) - Kayode Olawepo, and All Nigeria Peoples' Party - Taiye Eleja; emphasised that APC was not driven by a greedy bid to grab power by all means. Rather, APC said it was moved by a commitment to arrest the current drift in the State and rescue it from despair and hopelessness that had characterised the PDP government in the state.
APC promised to put all its strength into winning all 16 local government councils in the forthcoming local government elections.
