Letter of Appointment - Emir Lamido Sanusi
The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) - Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who was removed from office in February, has received his letter of appointment as the 57th Emir of Kano.
The letter was presented to him by the Kano State governor - Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at a ceremony held at the Government House.
Kwankwaso said that the appointment of an Emir was not a political matter - urging people not to see the appointment as political. He debunked rumours making the rounds that the new Emir’s name was not on the list of the people forwarded to him for final approval. “The name of our new Emir was among the list. In fact, he was the first on the list”, he said.
Emir Sanusi stated that the unrest that broke out following the announcement of his appointment in Kano was not caused by any of his relatives, referring to the sons of the late Emir.
Former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) - Nasir el-Rufai, stated that: “It is God that selects the Emir and not anybody. Although the kingmakers made their selection and the governor does his appointment, but I can tell you his case was God-making.”
