Impact of Nigeria's Twitter ban is over N18b

The economic impact of Nigeria's Twitter ban which is now its sixth day has been put at over $36m according to the Netblocks Cost of Shutdown Tool.

Although the tool estimated the Naira cost of the economic impact to be over N13b, Trumpet Media Group observed that the Naira cost is based on November 2019 exchange rates which computed $1 to about N362.

With One Dollar currently exchanging closer to N500, it means the cost of the shutdown so far is over N18b
