Dr Myles Munroe, internationally renowned author, lecturer, teacher, life coach, government consultant, and leadership mentor, died yesterday in a plane crash in the Bahamas, aged 60.

All nine passengers of a small Lear 36 Executive Jet travelling to the Global Leadership Forum, which was organised by Munroe, were killed in the accident. Passengers included Munroe’s wife, Ruth Ann Munroe.
The plane had departed the Bahamian capital of Nassau, but crashed while attempting to land at Grand Bahama International Airport.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Munroe spent the last thirty years travelling the world and training leaders in business, education, government, and religion - delivering his message on personal and professional development to more than 500,000 people yearly and millions through his Media program.
He was also the Founder of the Board of Trustees of the International Third World Leaders Association (ITWLA) - an all-professional global network of leaders, focusing on formal leadership development and training primarily in developing nations. He was the Founder and President of Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI), an all-encompassing network of ministries headquartered in Nassau, Bahamas. Additionally, he served as Senior Pastor of BFM International Fellowship, one of the largest churches in his native country, the Bahamas.
He was a multi-gifted, international motivational speaker, best-selling author, and business consultant to governments, Fortune 500 Companies, and corporations, addressing the critical issues that affect every aspect of human, professional, leadership, social, and spiritual development.
He authored over 38 books; many of which have become bestselling books in the marketplace including Becoming a Leader, The Spirit of Leadership, The Principles & Power of Vision, The Pursuit of Purpose, Rediscovering the Kingdom, Understanding Your Potential, Releasing Your Potential, God’s Big Idea, and In Charge among many others.
In his lifetime, Munroe was invited to over 80 nations as an ambassador of his nation, the Bahamas to address government bodies, business leaders, universities, and religious organizations.
In 1998, he received an OBE on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his spiritual and social contributions to the national development of the Bahamas. He was honoured by the government of the Bahamas with the Silver Jubilee Award (SJA) for providing 25 years of outstanding service to the Bahamas in the category of spiritual, social and religious development.
Munroe and his wife are survived by their two children, daughter Charisa and son Chairo.
