Former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella believes Lionel Messi will eventually evolve into a play-making role in the future.
Whilst in charge of Argentina, Sabella successfully devised a system which saw him replicate his club form on the international stage, especially at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Under Sabella's tutelage, the 27-year-old Barcelona ace also equalled Gabriel Batisuta’s record of 12 goals in a calender year.

In the future, Sabella believes the four-time Ballon d’Or winner will evolve into someone in the play-making role, rather than remaining the main man up front.
“As time passes and he loses that extraordinary, explosive pace, he will become more of a playmaker,” Sabella told Cope.
“He’s so extraordinary that we only know [him as a goalscorer], but can do so much more.”
Sabella also believes the swift left-footed dribbler will go down in history as the one of the best the sport has seen.
“He is one of the world's great players, and we are lucky to see him week in, week out. He is one of the best players all time,” he said.
"His team-mates know that he can win a game, he can help win a match, and his opponents are scared of what he can do to them. He is a decisive, incredible player.”
