It has been consistent with its weekly JAMAHLIY 1-hour radio programme (JAMAHLIY HOUR) transmitting on Radio Dawn 107.6FM, every Saturday from 4pm - 5.30 pm (UK time), showcasing JAMAHLIY objectives, challenges, activities and educating the Muslim community and beyond on the moderate teachings of Islam without transgressing from Quran and Hadith.
The society has been involved in several humanitarian projects within the local community and beyond, including the Jamahliy Diaspora Charity Project (Poverty Alleviation Project) in Nigeria where 250 widows and elderly were supported with foodstuffs; cash donations were made to an orphanage; supply of generator sets and public address system to two mosques in Nigeria; school fees and hospital bills payments to a few needy persons; and a little contribution to the Muslim Hands yearly Food Aid project during the last two Ramadan periods. It has also been involved in quite a few community engagement meetings with the local Police and Air Force.
The Nottingham branch, often referred to as a “small but mighty” branch, under the guidance of its Diaspora Zonal Imam - Sheikh Mubarak Basunu, has assisted in the establishment and nurturing of JAMAHLIY new branches in Düsseldorf, Germany and Belgium. It is currently working with members in the United States and Canada to inaugurate at least one branch in the respective countries.
Jamahliy Nottingham is grateful to its Landlord - the Karimia Institute that is providing its current accommodation for its activities every Sunday free of charge.
The society has its own challenges, one being the limited funds available to offset the cost of its regular activities and towards the execution of its project plan.
According to the society, "Top of our list is the project on the purchase of a building that will be known as our permanent place of worship and In Sha Allah to be called “Jamahliy Nottingham Islamic Centre.
"The building will provide room for a masjid, opportunities to engage with the local children/youths with recreational facilities for during after school and holiday periods, Qur’anic classes and accommodation for Muslim students and members with temporary accommodation challenges, etc."
Donations are sought towards the purchase of Jamahliy Nottingham Islamic Centre building, and these can be paid through its Barclay Bank Plc Account:
