Mayor visits Tanzanian community

The  Lord  Mayor  of  Coventry in  West Midlands, United  Kingdom - Councillor Hazel Noonan and  her  Consort  visited  the  Tanzanian  community  living  in  the City  of  Coventry and projects run  by  the Community.

At  the   evening  hosted  by  Madrasatul Aqsaa, a community Supplementary School, she commended  the  good  work  done  by this  community  and  pledged  the  support  of  the Government.

The Head  of  the  School - Ustadh  Ally  Khamisi  recounted to the audience - the  journey  of the Madrasa and where it  is  at the moment. He  said  it  has  been  a  focal  point  of  the   community   especially  in relation to social, cultural  and  spiritual  matters. He went  on  to  say that   the  school  needs   to  expand   and  move  to   new  premises  that  will  accommodate the huge  student population: "We are now in the process of buying a new place which will act as our Community Centre, Prayer House and Supplementary School."

The event was organised by New Deal Africa which was represented  by its Chairperson - Ms Enzy  Larusai.
