Construction work on two flyovers in Ijebu Ode
The Ogun State Government has started the construction of two flyovers on the Ejirin-Oluwalogbon Road in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking while conducting newsmen round the road project, the State's Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure - Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite said the two bridges are expected to be completed within the next nine months.
He disclosed that when completed, the six-lane bridges would aid free flow of traffic as well as prevent loss of lives and property often experienced on the road.
Adegbite explained that one of the bridges would link Ejirin Road to the Sagamu/Benin highway and would be of use to those going into Ijebu Ode from the Ikorodu/ Sagamu axis. This, according to him would take care of the difficulties and mishaps being experienced presently by commuters at the spot.
He stated that the second bridge being constructed on Ejirin- Oluwalogbon road would equally aid free flow of vehicular traffic at the Lagos/Ibadan garage area of the road, pointing out that work had also commenced on the construction of the drainage system of the road
Allaying fears that the rains would slow down the pace of work and affect the time of completion, the Commissioner assured residents that already, the aspect that would have been disturbed by the rain had been done, adding that the onset of the raining season would not in any way affect the date of completion.
He explained that the State Government was not unmindful of the fact that the road was a 'Trunk A' road which belonged to the Federal Government, but the passion to make living more abundant for the people who cared less about which tier of government was responsible for constructing and maintaining roads within the State moved it to transform it into an “Ogun Standard road.”
