Greatly remembered for her selfless service as Director-General of National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in the fight against the production of unhealthy food and fake drugs. She was the only African on the list and third person in the world to win the Integrity Award by Transparency International in 2003. After a long battle with cancer, she gave up on the 7th of June at the age of 59 years.

She is the hero who prevented Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyerr from eliminating at least half the population of Nigeria by preventing him from leaving the hospital. Submitting herself willingly for quarantine, was a show of her selfless service. The great-granddaughter of Herbert Macaulay died at the age of 57 years.

Veteran Nollywood Producer and Director, Amaka Igwe died on the 28th of April after a brief period of ill health. She is the producer of popular Award-winning TV soap, Checkmate and Fuji House of Commotion amongst other films like Rattle Snake, Armadas, etc. Died at the age of 51.

She is an epitome of the role of woman in society and that gender is no barrier to achieving career goals.
Dame Oluremi Oyo was the first woman in Nigeria to be elected President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors where she served for two terms; Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Obasanjo (Presidential spokesperson); and Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
She was made a Papal Dame of the Order of St. Gregory the Great by Pope Benedict XVI in 2011. She died at the age of 61 years.

Branama singer and Award-winning Gospel artiste, Irikefe Don-Momoh, collapsed aboard a 14-hour flight to Chicago and died weeks later at the age of 34 years. Her presence in the music industry will never be forgotten.

Contemporary, inspirational and gospel singer, Taiwo Oshadipe, one half of the singing duo departed this world after a brief illness in the morning of October 3rd. The Oshadipe twins are known for their hit track, “Dide Olorun Mi.”

Renowned journalist and Vice Chairman of The Sun newspaper, Dimgba Igwe was killed from injuries sustained from a hit and run driver in the Okota area of Lagos State. He was age 58 years.

He is an upcoming Nollywood actor who was killed by a stray bullet in a cross fire between policemen and armed robbers on October 14th.

Seasoned lawyer and human rights activist, Kunle Fadipe was murdered at his Ifako-Ijaiye, Ogba residence.
BAMIDELE ATURU

Renowned human rights activist and lawyer, Aturu died after a brief illness at the age of 49 years. He is the National Youth Service Corper who refused to shake hands with the then Military Governor of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe in 1988 during his passing out parade.
