Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has extended his "heartfelt condolences to Prophet Fakeye’s family, members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church and the Christian community in Nigeria on the demise of the great servant of God."
Prophet Gabriel Olubunmi Fakeye
Special Apostle Prophet Dr Gabriel Olubunmi Fakeye who was until his death, the Chairman of the Surulere District of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church, passed away in Lagos yesterday aged 78 - two months away from his 79th Birthday. He had been ill and hospitalised in the United States of America since last year but returned to Nigeria about a fortnight ago.
In a release issued by his Special Adviser (Media & Publicity) - Dr Reuben Abati, Jonathan noted that Prophet Fakeye "greatly inspired and motivated his followers and other Nigerians with his vibrant elucidation of the Word of God as well as his exemplary lifestyle and moral conduct."
Until his death, Fakeye was the recently elected President of the Nigeria Chapter of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC).
He was also an active representative of the church in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Prophet Fakeye was born in the Orudi compound in Imesi-Ile, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria on March 11, 1936 to Pa Samuel Oke Fakeye and Mama Marian Olayemi Fakeye.
