The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Health has said it is unable to provide the exact number of deaths at the moment - as the rescue efforts are ongoing.
It is believed that the population of the school is almost 180, with some other people residing in the residential apartments in the building.
Those rescued have been taken to General Hospital Marina, Massey Street Children's Hospital, Onikan Health Centre (less severe cases), Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and the General Hospital Gbagada.

A three-storey residential building which also housed a nursery and primary school on its top floor, has collapsed in Lagos Island - killing mostly school children.
The building at 35 Ita-Faji Street collapsed around 9am GMT and rescue efforts are still ongoing as both children and adults are still trapped in the rubble from the collapse.

At press time, 41 people have been rescued and stabilised at the General Hospital Marina.
