I am proud of what I have done - Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
Outspoken Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) - Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan earlier today has spoken about his suspension.
In an interview with CNBC Africa, he said he was very proud of his actions and tenure at the Central Bank, but will be challenging his suspension in the courts for the sake of the CBN institution.
According to him, the courts will need to make a pronouncement on whether a President who does not have constitutional powers to remove a CBN Governor, has the powers to suspend a CBN Governor.
At the time of the suspension, Sanusi was away in Niger Republic attending a meeting of West African Central Bank Governors. Sanusi's office informed him of his suspension and this was confirmed by Nigeria's Ambassador in Niger.
Sanusi left the Niger meeting - leaving the Acting Governor - Sarah Alade to continue with the meeting.
