The Groom - Barrister Boonyameen Babajide Lawal with his parents - Ambassador O.K & A.B. Lawal
Islamiyah Olajumoke Omowonuola Ojora (Jumoke) and Boonyameen Babajide Lawal (Jide) tied the wedding knots recently.
Relying on what their parents told them, Jide, then 2-years old, met Jumoke when she was born during a visit by the Lawals to Jumoke's mum in hospital following Jumoke's birth.
They met again in University as they were in the same Law class. After losing contact with each other, they met again in Abuja working in the same office.
An initial marriage proposal by Jide where he attempted to pop a ring in Jumoke's mouth during a kiss was rebuffed by Jumoke.
Two years later, during a trip to London from Nigeria, the proposal was accepted, and the rest is history.
According to Jumoke, "Jide is like my other half. It's amazing how much I love him. We communicate without words. It's like we are subsumed in each other and though we can both be bull-headed."
Jide confirms that "Yes, I did propose by trying to kiss her and popping the ring in her mouth. Yes, she did say she was not ready. We were apart for 2 years. Those were two of the most miserable years of my entire life."
"Jumoke is my other half. She completes me. I love her more than she can ever imagine (and she has a fantastic imagination). Without Jumoke nothing good feels as good. (Those Eyes! Those Eyes!! Those Eyes!!!) hmm..."
