Forgiveness and Reconciliation
Forgiveness and Reconciliation
Eighteenth-century poet Alexander Pope famously said that “To err is human, to forgive, divine.”
Pastor Samson Abiona sets out to bring readers a little bit closer to the divine with his new book touting the benefits of redemption and new beginnings, “Forgiveness and Reconciliation: A Path to Peaceful Fellowship” (published by AuthorHouse).
Confident that his 138-page book stands apart from others on the same subject, Abiona says that the main difference “is that my book aims at showing how forgiveness and reconciliation can produce peaceful relationships all over the world irrespective of religion or ethnicity. Most other books deal directly with either the religious concept of forgiveness or what forgiveness can do to individuals.”
Using modern examples to back his arguments, Abiona has emerged with a book filled with optimism that is often lacking in today’s society. While violence and conflict make front-page headlines, “Forgiveness and Reconciliation” is a welcome reminder that life is short and letting go of anger and resentment is essential to one’s well-being.
Samson Abiona is a retired pastor who served as the Minister-in-Charge of Elim Pentecostal Church, East Sheen in Southwest London between November 2004 and February 2008, after which he moved to the Camberwell, Southeast London branch of the church.
He studied telecommunications and electronics engineering at the then South Bank Polytechnic (now South Bank University) and worked for the Home Office. He later worked at the British Library until 2005 before going to study for a Bachelor’s degree in theology at Wisdom Christian College in London which has been accredited by both University of Wales and Vision International University of America.
Samson joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) of the British Army from 1964 to 1968 where he served as a non-commissioned officer before he left the service. He is married and has three children.
