One of the 27 women, renowned musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti married in one fell swoop - Queen Laide Anikulapo-Kuti (nee Babayale), recounts her ordeal during the military raid on Kalakuta Republic.

Laide was there as an 'underage girl' when Fela was arrested for 'abducting underage girls,' and witnessed numerous incidents of harassment on the part of the authorities including the burning of Kalakuta Republic. She was also there when the Republic was reincarnated in Ikeja.
