She was born in Benin in 1959 to the renowned Hajaig family of Lebanon, and grew up in a loving but strict home where discipline and strong moral values were inculcated into her by her parents. She had her primary and secondary school education in Ibadan and studied Secretarial Studies and Management at the Polytechnic Ibadan.
She started her career at Femi Johnson and Co, a leading Insurance Brokerage Firm and went on to work at Insight Communications and RT Briscoe, before taking the brave decision to leave the safety of paid employment to embark on her own retail business. Unfazed by the difficulties and insecurities of the business world, her entrepreneurial drive, passion and dedication, have seen the business grow steadily and successfully over the years.
She is a champion of women’s causes and believes the time has come for the Nigerian woman to stand up and take her rightful place in society. She is currently the Patron of the Oyo State chapter of National Council of Women’s Society and intends to capitalise on her position as First Lady to promote the role and rights of women in the State.
As a mother and grandmother, she has a particular passion for helping pregnant women and children. She is appalled by the number of failed pregnancies in the State and is committed to ensuring that the pregnant women of Oyo State are given the best possible chance of a safe delivery.
She also has a heart for all children and is working hard to give those less privileged a fair chance of making it in life.
Prior to becoming First Lady of the State, among other things, she built a Day Care Centre for the Motherless Babies Home in Ibadan while she was President of the Bodija Lion’s Club in 1996.
She has embarked on various projects aimed at improving the standard of living of women and children in the State including: Access to Basic Care, Educate A Rural Child, creation of Mini clinics for widows and the aged, establishment of ICT centres for women in public service, empowerment of women of different cadre in the society.
H.E. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi is currently working alongside her husband, H.E Senator Abiola Ajimobi - The Executive Governor of Oyo State, in a joint effort to make Oyo State great again.
