Konnie Huq and Deepak Kuntawala
International entrepreneur Deepak Kuntawala, Founder and Chairman of the global commodity trading and finance boutique company DVK Group, with a strong network in the Africa region, hosted an exclusive private reception in honour of H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, Vice President of the Republic of Kenya and H.E Madame Pauline in support of the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation, at a high profile event which took place at The Bentley Hotel, London.
DVK Group’s gala reception was attended by an esteemed guest list comprising of British, Kenyan and international dignitaries, political figures and industry leaders, who had flown into London especially for the event from Russia, Malawi, Kenya, India, Spain, South Africa and the UAE. Also in attendance were the High Commissioners of Kenya and Malawi.
The event, which was hosted by renowned TV personality Konnie Huq, was an exquisite evening of high-profile networking, interspersed with delectable cuisine and high-octane entertainment. The London Community Gospel Choir opened the evening with a soulful rendition of Amazing Grace and later went on to perform Motown renditions of classic tracks, closing the event with both H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka and H.E Madam Pauline joining in to sing Oh Happy Days. This internationally renowned choir has serenaded celebrities and dignitaries alike with their dulcet tones and have performed with the likes of Madonna, Beverley Knight, Il Divo and Kylie Minogue, as well as singing the opening theme for the FA Cup.
Other musical delights included a performance by the 15-year old talented Kenyan singer, Lynette Mutuota, who delighted audiences with her voice as she sung acapella. Nevertheless, the piece-de-resistance came with a show-stopping act from magician extraordinaire Dynamo, who mesmerised and entertained with his illusions of the mind.
Another highlight of the evening was a candid and entertaining ‘in conversation’ interview with His Excellency conducted by Konnie Huq. The Vice President seized the opportunity to highlight his vision for Kenya’s progress and its emerging status as a heavy weight on the world stage, reflecting Kenya’s wider “2030 Vision” campaign, which focuses on Kenya’s strategic and continued economic, social and political development.
Having played an integral role in the establishment of peace in Sudan and Somalia, Mr Musyoka is a keen advocate for peace and sustained development, simultaneous to the eradication of poverty, tribalism and corruption.
The event host Mr Deepak Kuntawala spoke eloquently about DVK Group’s plans for sustained investment and development in the Kenyan region. The topics he broached included DVK Group’s advising the Kenyan Government and industry leaders on Agro-Funds investment and specialist investment vehicles which are created and structured by the Group per asset class and sector.
