New Ghana World Cup squad unveiled
Ghana coach - James Kwesi Appiah has released his 26-man provisional squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup tournament in Brazil. The Black Stars coach surprised some with the inclusions of Keeper Stephen Adams, defender Jeffrey Shlupp as well as Afriyie Acquah and David Accam. Adams is local-based talent and narrowly missed out on the last World Cup Squad.
Shlupp, who has successfully converted from a striker to left-back, has had a successful season at club Leicester helping them get promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
Accam, a graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, was the main outsider to make the squad. He is yet to make an international appearance despite his good form for club Helsingborg.
A surprise exclusion was Isaac Vorsah due to an injury-plagued season, as well as experienced defender John Mensah. A decision many seem to agree with.
Appiah currently has a squad of 26 players, which he will need to cut to 23 by FIFA’s June 2 deadline.
