On the second leg of her programme travels across the African continent, American teenage education advocate and film maker - Zuriel Oduwole and members of her DUSUSU Foundation have been formally welcomed to Accra in Ghana, by H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The President on behalf of the people of Ghana commended and thanked Zuriel and her Foundation for their various initiatives that have begun to make a tangible impact in the lives of the underprivileged across the city, starting with the youths in the town of Chorkor, which she visited earlier in January 2018.
He commended Zuriel for her Film Making initiative as well, which she began in Namibia in 2016 at the age of 13, by teaching the basic steps of filmmaking to unemployed young women in Windhoek.
Zuriel on her part, spoke to the President on his position as a member of a new kind of generation of African leaders, who are intellectually repositioning the African continent and changing the narrative about the true potentials of almost a billion people on the continent.

Earlier on, she had presented the Gender Ministers Edition of the 2018 DUSUSU Awards to Hon Otiko Djaba, for her work in fighting vigorously against Girl Child marriage, a practice still prevalent in parts of Ghana today.
She was accompanied on the visit to President Akufo-Addo by a member of the DUSUSU Foundation, her 13 year-old sister Azaliah Oduwole, Ghana’s Minister of Gender - Hon Otiko Djaba, and the Director of Development at the Ministry of Gender - Francisca Atuluk.
