Pastor scalds boy
Head Pastor of the Holy Spirit Church at Mankessim, Kwadwo Abraham, has been arrested for allegedly burning a young boy.
Abraham, 41, is claimed to have covered the boy with a scalding hot, wet cloth three times on different parts of his body including his chest and penis. The application of the hot cloth however caused blisters in the affected parts.
According to the boy’s father, Mr. Stephen Nyame, Abraham burnt his son because he believed he had been possessed by evil spirits and needed deliverance.
Abraham had also warned the parents who observed his actions not to reveal what they had witnessed or be cursed with the same spirits affecting the boy.
Nyame stated he reported the case to the police a few days after the incident, “After some days, I realised that my son was suffering so I reported the case to the Mankessim police command.”
District Police Commander of Saltpond Police Command, David Ashong, confirmed the arrest to Adom News, asserting that Kwadwo Abraham had been arrested on Friday. He remains in custody while the case has been handed over to the Cape Coast office of the Domestic Violence and Victims' Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigation.
Furthermore, despite the advice of the police, Nyame hasn’t been able to send his son to the Saltpond Government Hospital, due to financial constraints.
