The Ogun State Chapter of Nigeria's ruling political party - All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom, has expressed its "shock and outrage at the outlandish thuggery and extreme brigandage displayed during the Presidential rally in Abeokuta on Monday."
Speaking through the Chapter’s Chairman - Barrister Dapo Oduwole, the party observed that the violence was obviously targeted at the APC gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State - Prince Dapo Abiodun.
He stated that "the violence was unnecessary, unwelcome, had gone on for too long and must now cease. It has no place in Ogun State."

Oduwole added that "these acts of unwarranted and riotous behaviour were part of a series of nefarious acts calculated to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB), VP Yemi Osinbajo SAN (PYO), Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Prince Dapo Abiodun and APC party chieftains in attendance."
He said “At this sensitive period of the election calendar, we issue a strong caution to disruptive elements within and outside the party in our State.”
He further appealed to the youths in the State not to allow themselves to be used by irresponsible politicians to cause trouble which can harm the enviable reputation and image of Ogun State.
Oduwole asserted that "the U.K. chapter stands with PMB, PYO and Prince Dapo Abiodun, and supports them fully towards victory at the Presidential and Gubernatorial elections," stressing that "peace must be allowed to reign in Ogun State during and after the elections."
