Violence in Rivers House of Assembly (Video)

The crisis in Nigeria's River State took another turn today when a group of 5 members of the River State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience in the face-off between Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi claimed to have suspended 25 members of the House and impeached the Speaker.

The Speaker and the 25 members are believed to be loyal to Amaechi.

The House of Assembly's symbol of authority - the "Mace" was completely broken while being used in acts of violence.

The House Leader sustained  injuries while computer systems were  destroyed.
