CONFERENCE BACKGROUND
It will be recalled that Nigeria was scheduled to hold its Presidential election on 14th and other elections on 28th February. However, Nigeria's electoral body INEC postponed the election for another 6 weeks. The Conference aims to review from the British democracy experience, the postponement, the issues of security and governance.
The Niger-Delta region of Nigeria, the region that produces Nigeria's oil, a minority in the country and the current Nigeria President's homestead remains a key factor in the power play ongoing in Nigeria's political game.
