Four Ministers who were recently cleared by Nigeria's upper legislative organ - the Senate, have been sworn in and assigned portfolios by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The new ministers are former Governor of Kano State - Ibrahim Shekarau, as the Minister of Education; Dr. Steve Orise-Oru as the Minister for the Niger Delta; Prince Clement Dayo Adeyeye as Minister of State for Works and Abdul Bulama as Minister of Science and Technology.
Jonathan also announced a reshuffle of his Cabinet. Bashir Yuguda is now the substantive Minister of National Planning and Minister of State for Finance, following the exit of former Minister of State of Finance - Yerima Ngama.
Yesom Wike returns to his former position as the Minister of State for Education.
In last September's cabinet reshuffle, Jonathan had designated the Minister of Communication Technology - Omobola Johnson, to oversee the Ministry of Science and Technology, vacated by Ita Ewa Okon; while the Minister of State, Works, Bashir Yuguda, was assigned to oversee the Ministry of National Planning following the sack of the longest serving cabinet member, Shamsudeen Usman, who was first appointed minister by late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Jonathan urged the new Ministers to put in their best into their new roles especially as the Jonathan administration is on the last lap of the current four-year tenure.
