Archbishop Benjamin emphasised on the need for Nigerians in the Diaspora to return home to contribute their quota to nation building. “If we win the election in 2019, we’ll tap into your brains, and won’t be like those who use you and dump you,” he added.
He called on Nigerians to support the ABP because the party does not have a winner-takes-all mentality, rather it is a masses-oriented party.
During his recent visit to the United Kingdom, Benjamin who is also the President of the Foundation for World Peace and Dispute Resolution, stated that Nigeria needed a selfless leader who would put the country before self.
He added his voice to those calling on President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election as President in 2019.
Decrying the 'recycling of politicians' in the country, he opined that less than 1000 people have been ruling the country since the return to civil rule in 1999. “We have not practiced democracy in Nigeria, but a government of a few rich people, by a few rich people and for a few rich people,” he added.
During his visit to the UK, Benjamin met with Conservative Peer - Lord Sheikh and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum - Ash Zaman.
