Guests at the wedding of the adopted daughter of Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan were given gifts of 24ct Gold customised iPhone 5 handsets.
The phones were said to have been given as gifts by Ma Livelihood Luxury to guests at the wedding of Prince Godswill Osim Edward and Jonathan's adopted daughter - Faith Elizabeth Sabwe.
The luxury iPhones given out at the wedding bore Nigeria's Coat of Arms - a total misuse of the country's property for a private function.
Ma Livelihood Luxury attracted media attention last October during Nigeria's 53rd Independence Celebrations when it said it had 53 Original Gold Plated iPhones for sale on a 50% off offer which slashed the price of each phone from $5000 to $2500.
The Independent Newspaper of London reported last September that the Nigerian government ordered customised gold iPhones from a Dubai-based British company - Gold and Co, to mark the country’s 53rd independence anniversary. This was denied by the Presidency through Jonathan's spokesman - Dr Reuben Abati.
Abati in a statement, stated that the Dubai-based firm said the order for the 53 gold iPhones was placed by a private individual and not the Nigerian Government, and urged the company to go ahead and disclose the identity of that individual.
Sources close to Ma Livelihood Luxury also stated that it has given each of the 36 State Governors a customised iPhone and has a photo of Lagos State Governor - Babatunde Raji Fashola's phone on its Twitter page.
