Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is confident he will beat Barcelona's Lionel Messi to the Champions League goal scoring record - after the duo edged closer to Raul Gonzalez’s mark of 71 goals.

During Real's 3-0 Champions League win at Liverpool on Wednesday, Ronaldo moved within one of the Raul's by grabbing his 70th strike in the competition at Anfield - one more than Messi.
And the Portuguese captain believes he will beat the 27-year-old Barca star to emerge the highest goal scorer in the history of the competition.
Speaking to Supersport, the 29-year-old said: "I am not worried about that. I know I'm going to beat the record, if not tonight then some other game. Messi is very close too."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's Madrid will host Messi's Barcelona in the first Classico clash of the season on Saturday, October 24.
