Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State on Thursday began a spiritual warfare against the Action Congress of Nigeria-led administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Consequently, the Ogun PDP has told Amosun and the ruling ACN in the state that they should forget about having a second term at the Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta Governor’s Office in 2015.
At a one-day inter-religious prayer session organised by the PDP National Youth Vanguard at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital, five Christian and Muslim clerics prayed for the success of the PDP in the state in the forthcoming elections.
The five clerics who conducted the prayers included Pastor John Akinbode, Pastor Kinrin Emmanuel, Apostle Olusesi Obateye, Ustaz Giyath Oyelayo and Ustaz Abiola Uthman.
While the Christian clerics were from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, their Muslim counterparts were members of the Morcaz in Ogun State.
Quoting copiously from the Holy Quoran and the Bible, the clerics prayed for continued unity of the opposition party as well as their success in the 2015 polls.
The clerics further predicted victory for the PDP in the next election in the state.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Chief Adebayo Dayo, during the prayer session that the people of the state had suffered untold hardship due to the improper handling of the state affairs by the Amosun administration.
Dayo said with the spiritual war declared against the state administration by the opposition party, the ACN-led government should prepare to leave the saddle in the next general elections.
He said, “No matter what they do, God is there. If they put themselves in the hole, God will be looking at them. So, we are using today to tell God what we have been going through. We have been going through hell under the leadership of Governor Ibikunle Amosun and we want to beg God to come to our rescue and I tell you by the grace of God, come 2015 election, we’ll all be there. We shall all be in that office to chase him out.
“We thank God for today. Not long ago, we read it in the papers that PDP is dead in Ogun State. Ibikunle Amosun is deceiving himself. PDP is not dead. PDP is alive. But today is a day of prayer and not campaigns. All the bad wishes that they have been saying against our party, all the thinking of our enemies it will be returned to them by the grace of God.
“PDP is here to stay. PDP is now one. We are PDP under the leadership of our Baba, Chief Obasanjo. Prince Buruji Kashamu is our leader. We are all working together for the success of the PDP in Ogun State. Whether ACN likes it or not, there will be no room for them. There will be no room for second term. So, by the grace of God, we are going to take back that office come 2015.”
He added, “The prayers they have come to do for us today, may it be acceptable to God and may we see the results. Every good or bad situation requires prayers. Because everything we have been doing in the PDP all this while, it seems there are some people by the corner who have been sabotaging our efforts and saying that there should be no peace in the PDP. But God has made it impossible for them.”
The Ogun PDP boss stressed that prayers had become imperative for the opposition party in its bid to regain its lost glory in the state, urging members not to relent in their spiritual battle against the ruling ACN.”
