Tributes continue to flow in following the death of His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Adewale Abiodun Alogbo JP, FNACM, DDM, GCOMS - the Chairman and Spiritual Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Ayo Ni O; and the Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria.
The transition of Prophet Alogbo, aged 93, was announced Thursday morning by the Board of Trustees of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church. The Official Announcement signed by the Church’s Secretary General – Senior Special Apostle Prophet (Dr.) Anthony Olusesan Samaye, JP, FCIHRM, MNIM, DIIHP; stated that His Most Eminence, Prophet Alogbo was called to glory peacefully in the early hours of July 30, 2026 at 2.10am at his residence – surrounded by family members and domestic staff.

The Announcement said that “Prayers will be held daily at 5pm for seven days at his residence located at Plot 1 Alogbo Close, off Ahmadiyya Bus Stop, Ijaiye, Ojokoro, Lagos.”
“Burial arrangements will be announced later,” the Announcement added.
Shortly afterwards, the Ecclesiastical Council of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria in a circular to its National Executive Council, signed by the Church’s Secretary General – Senior Apostle Tayo Ajose, announced the “Transition to Glory of our beloved Supreme Head (Olori).”
Senior Apostle Ajose indicated that “Burial arrangements will be made available as soon as possible.”
Prophet Alogbo was anointed and installed as the 6th Spiritual Father of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church on 1st May 2024 – by the then Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria – His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Solomon Adegboyega Alao.
Barely 10 months ago, on September 20 2025, Prophet Alogbo was ordained and installed as the 5th Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria.
Prophet Alogbo was born on Easter Sunday 18 April 1933 in Lagos, Nigeria, to the family of Late Dickson Adeleye Alogbo and Late Maria Ojubomo Alogbo. He attended Ago-Ijaiye Primary School, Ebute Meta, Lagos; St. Paul's Secondary School, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife; and Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife.
Following the death of his father in 1942, he completed much of his education under the care of his mother in Ile-Ife. His father's role as a church Choirmaster greatly influenced his lifelong passion for sacred music.
Before entering full-time church leadership, Prophet Alogbo worked with the Nigerian Railway Corporation from 1950 in the Engineering Department, specialising in Electrical and Refrigeration services.
His posting to Zaria would prove to be a turning point in his spiritual journey. In 1959, while stationed in Zaria, Prophet Alogbo encountered the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church in remarkable circumstances. Passing the Zaria branch of the church one day, he heard the Choir singing one of the hymns he had composed during his earlier Methodist background. He entered the Church, corrected the Choir's rendition, and soon afterwards became actively involved in the Choir Ministry. This event marked the beginning of his lifelong ministry within the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church.
Prophet Alogbo made enduring contributions to the music and worship tradition of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church. Among his notable credits are: introducing the Yoruba gángan (talking drum) into worship within the Church; helping modernise sacred music within the Church; introducing dance-oriented praise music accompanied by instruments such as the trumpet, guitar, and organ; serving as Choir Master and later Music Director; and composing and teaching numerous hymns. His innovations significantly influenced the style of worship now found in many Cherubim & Seraphim congregations.
One of Prophet Alogbo's greatest legacies is the expansion of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church. In 1960, after returning to Lagos, he established the first branch of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church south of the River Niger. The first congregation met at his residence in Clegg Street, Surulere, Lagos, before moving to larger premises as membership increased. From this foundation, numerous districts and branches emerged across Lagos and Southern Nigeria. He also played a major role in extending the ministry internationally.
Over the years, Prophet Alogbo's ministry consistently focused on Prayer and Holiness; Evangelism; Revival; Unity among Cherubim & Seraphim churches; Excellence in Worship; Church Administration; Youth Development; and Global Expansion of the Church.
Prophet Alogbo bagged numerous laurels in his lifetime including being a Justice of the Peace (JP), and a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Christian Management (FNACM). He also held a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.M.)
He was married and blessed with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He leaves a legacy spanning more than six decades of service which includes: mentoring generations of clergy and church workers; strengthening the organisational structure of the Church; and promoting unity across the wider Cherubim & Seraphim family.
