Mrs. Ethel Macharrison
Community Development
Mrs. Ethel Macharrison is the Executive Director of Women In The Lord`s Vineyard (WITLOV), which was established 1996.
She decided to leave the hospitability industry to form the Charity and Social Community Development organisation with some women with the same vision.

WITLOV has undertaken numerous projects including:
- Liberating the girl-child from the Shito Aforkpa and Adela shrines, providing them with education through the support of the German Embassy in Ghana.
- Malaria Education Program in the Kpasa and Kadjebi Districts in the Volta Region, distributing mosquito nets for Malaria prevention, supported by the National Malaria Control Program and PROMPT (US-AID).
- Campaigning against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) with Aid from (I)NTACT Germany.
- Educating commercial sex workers in Accra and helping them learn trade and other vocational skills. The project was supported by Future For Hope Foundation, USA.
- The German DED, now GIZ supported WITLOV to establish a Community Radio Station (Arise 87.7 FM), educating the community about health issues, news and productivity in food processing (Gari).
- Campaigned against unprotected sex sponsorship by the Ghana AIDS Commission and PROMPT (US-AID).
- Runs a campaign dubbed “The Truth About Drugs”, educating the youth about misuse of drugs and creating a Drug Free World.
The Human Rights and Administration Justice (CHRAJ) in collaboration with the British High Commission in Ghana awarded her “The Human Rights Defender Award.” The Centre For Economic And Leadership Development honored her with “The Distinguished Impact Award.”
She is a Director of Mission Dine International (UK) (founded by previous GAB Awards Recipient – the late Dame Betty Asafu-Adjaye).
