He has a wealth of UK and international experience gained over 30 years in business, and enjoys the creativity of marketing and driving the successful development of profitable business growth.
As a British citizen, he has travelled extensively in Africa, through the Philippines and the Americas. His career has taken him from the UK to Uruguay, Europe and the USA, and he is passionate about International trade.
A strong advocate of highlighting the issues and opportunities of Financial Inclusion, he believes that the poverty that pervades the developing world is exacerbated by the lack of effective financial services: No banks, no competitive services, no long term returns, blight the lives of almost 5 billion people. The combination of business opportunity, technology and forward thinking regulation will allow the power of money to work for even the most disadvantaged in our societies - making the world a safer richer place.

For over a decade, he has been part of a project that has looked at the micro issues of delivering services to individual people who are currently excluded from the banked economies of the world - and has addressed many of their needs. They have also looked at the Macro issues that affect the wider economy and fall under the influence of Central Banks and the banking sector in general.
The technology they employ provides industry standard inter-operability and opens the way for banks and other financial services providers to enhance their services to their business customers, employers and to consumers. It also improves their Return On Investment on ATM and POS networks.
David Smith is the Chairman at the British African Business Alliance, a business membership network that draws together British and African businesses to stimulate business, investment and development opportunities in Africa.
Through developing deeper contacts amongst the Diaspora communities, the diplomatic trade and finance functions and African focused businesses, the British African Business Alliance helps mobilise the power of the private sector to accelerate the generation of widely held wealth in Africa.
