Following the death of 18-year-old Ugandan - Matthew Kitandwe, a murder investigation has been launched by London's Metropolitan Police.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 16:16hrs on Tuesday, 21 June to an address in Battersea, to reports of a man having been stabbed.
Kitandwe was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 17:00hrs.
The football lover played football for Colliers Wood, and had been on trials with the Uganda under-17s team. He played for Uganda at the 2015 Africa Youth Qualifiers and hoped to go on to represent Uganda at the international level.
The student of South Thames College was on his way back from college when he was stabbed.
A post-mortem examination has taken place with the cause of death given as stab injuries.
An 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station and was bailed to a date in August.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in Wayford Street, Battersea or any of the surrounding roads on the afternoon of Tuesday, 21 June who may have seen something out of character.
